Robert L. Rotz, age 90, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Born in Chambersburg on September 13, 1927, he was the son of the late Clarence A. and Mary Lesher Rotz.
A dairy farmer all his life, he and his wife owned and operated their dairy farm in the Guilford Springs Area of Chambersburg until retirement in 1993. In retirement, Mr. Rotz volunteered his time as an active church member, helping habitat for humanity, where he had helped to build 22 homes, and Brethren Disaster Relief. He also kept busy working in his wood shop, making furniture from trees on the farm, which many family and friends enjoy the fruits of his craftsmanship. Mr. Rotz was a member of the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, the C.V. Antique Engine and Machinery Association, Inc., the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, and a former member of the Browns Mill Cemetery Board.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 69 years, Margaret Horst Rotz, whom he married November 25, 1948, Five children and their families, John R. Rotz (wife Barbara) of Chambersburg and their children, Jamison (wife Brandy) and Jonathon (wife Alecia) Rotz; C. Alan Rotz (wife Robin) of Boalsburg, PA and children, Ashley Turner (husband Kevin) and Dustin Rotz; Lynn E. Rotz (wife Lynn) of Chambersburg and daughters, Stacey Redding (husband Joshua) and Becky Hickey (husband Ryan);Joel B. Rotz (wife Ronda) of Mechanicsburg, PA and children, Kristen Stuccio (husband Scott), Shelley Haleta (husband Viktor), and Zachary Rotz; and Elaine Zapata (husband Wiliam) of Annville, PA and sons, Mikhail Zapata-Rotz and Lech Zapata-Rotz; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Nelson C. Rotz (wife Emma) of Chambersburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Rotz.
Graveside services will be held at Browns Mill Cemetery on Monday, September 17, 2018, at 10 AM for members of the family, where Pastor Joel Nogle will officiate. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, 260 S. Fourth St., Chambersburg, PA 17201. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 2 – 4 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Brethren Disaster Ministries, c/o the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren at the above address.
