Robert L. Shives, Jr., 67, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday morning, November 7, 2015 at his home. Born January 29, 1948 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of Jeanne Jones Shives of Chambersburg and the late Robert L. Shives, Sr. Bob was a 1965 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He spent the majority of his life working in electrical wholesale and was a licensed electrical inspector. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg where he enjoyed helping make Easter eggs and had a passion for volunteering with the food pantry. He loved to travel and in the 1980’s authored a book published by Crestline Publishing titled “Airlines of North America” which was sold in retail stores including the gift shop at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Caroline Ballentine Shives, whom he married August 10, 1968, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Rev. Rick Noll will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA.
