Robert C. “Bob” Stanhope, Sr., age 89, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away at the Hershey Medical Center on January 9, 2018. Born January 9, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Mildred Hall Stanhope.
Mr. Stanhope served honorably during WWII in the U.S. Air Force; he later attended and graduated from Wheaton College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. Bob worked most of his life in Insurance sales and investigation. He was a member of Five Forks Brethren Church. He had served as a Missionary in Northern Wisconsin and Greenwood Hills Bible Conference in Fayetteville, Pa. Very artistic, Bob enjoyed animals, woodworking, building his own boats, fishing, skiing, long distance running, camping, and just being in the outdoors.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Margaret A. “Peg” Stanhope, whom he married June 20, 1953; three children, Kim L. Keltner of Alton, IL, Robert C. Stanhope, Jr. of Fayetteville, PA, and Jodi L. Shearer (husband David) of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Jeremy Keltner (wife Melisa) of Maplewood, MO, Chris Stanhope (wife Shelby) of Philadelphia, PA, Amber Meyer of Chambersburg, PA, and Carlee Stanhope of Mont Alto, PA; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA where Rev. Ray Kipe will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors provided by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard. The Family will receive friends on Sunday January 14, 2018 from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home.
