Robert Taylor

Robert M. “Bob” Taylor, of McConnellsburg, PA, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 in his 87th year. Born in Atlantic City, NJ, he was a son of the late Marvin S. and Grace M. Taylor. A World War II veteran, Bob served honorably as a radar technician in the US Navy. Upon his discharge, he began his career at Pennsylvania Bell Telephone. During his career with Bell Telephone, he worked as a switchman, equipment foreman, wire chief, and research scientist. Bob retired from Bell Telephone Laboratories in 1979 after 32 years of service. He then worked as a consultant for AT&T, IT&T, and Western Electric. His work took him to places all over the world including, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Russia, Guatemala, and Argentina.

Bob enjoyed challenging himself. He built a racing class sail boat, restored a house built in 1896 in Blairs Mills, PA, and wrote a full length novel just to see if he could. Bob was a Christian. He was a member of the Conococheague Audubon Society, and the Blairs Mills Lion’s Club where he helped design a reading program for the blind.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dawn W. Taylor; three children, Caryl Laurie Taylor, of McConnellsburg, PA, Douglas Wayne and wife Cherry Taylor, of Gilbert, AZ, and Dale D. F. and wife, Susan Taylor, of El Paso, TX; two grandchildren, Dawn Renae Beeson and husband, Russell, and Scott Robert Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Cale and Teylah Beeson; all of Gilbert, AZ. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Taylor.

Services under the direction of Agett-Geisel Funeral Home will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
