Robert L. Wagner, 75, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, PA. Born April 21, 1949 in Chambersburg he was the son of Esther J. (Leonard) Wagner of Waynesboro, PA and the late Robert A. Wagner. 

He was a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School with the Class of 1967. Bob then went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Tri-State College in 1971. He served honorably with the United States Army Reserves from 1971 until his honorable discharge in 1977. 

Bob was employed for Greene Township Municipality Authority as a consultant engineer from 1971 until 1988. In 1988 he began his career with the Borough of Chambersburg as a civil engineer and retired as Director of Public Works in 2011 after 23 years. Bob was a lifetime member of Zion Reform Church and served as Deacon. He was a member of the following organizations: George Washington Masonic Lodge #143, VFW Post 1599, Landis- McCleaf Marine Corps, AMVETS Post 224, and American Legion Post 46 all in Chambersburg. He was an athletic person, playing tennis and basketball during college and softball, volleyball and golf as an adult. When Bob was not participating in a sport, he was a spectator of both local and professional sports. His favorite teams were the Chicago Bears, Penn State, Chicago Cubs, and the Washington Capitals as well as any team that his granddaughters played. Bob loved spending time at Ocean City, MD and Cherry Grove in Myrtle Beach, SC. 

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Candice A. (Yaukey) Wagner who he married, June 13, 1970; a son, Craig Wagner and his wife Jenelle of Greencastle, PA; three granddaughters, Riley, Jordyn, and Charlotte; sister-in-law, Karen Sleighter and her husband Bob; sister-in-law, Jean Hockenberry; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his foster brother, Ken Hockenberry. 

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, December 6, 2024 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Zion Reformed Church, 259 S. Main Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
