Robert G. Yanchuk, age 85, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Manor Care Nursing Home. Born April 20, 1928 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Michael and Alice Podgeski Yanchuk.
Mr. Yanchuk served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. A retired Boston police officer, Mr. Yanchuk dedicated 30 years of service to the city of Boston retiring in 1988.
Surviving is his daughter, Linda M. Kaiser (husband Gordon) of Chambersburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Michelle Driscoll, Corinne Kriner, Sean, Jordan, Jacob, Jessie, and Drake Kaiser; four great-grandchildren, Cera, Owen, Nora, and Grace; and one sister, Phyllis Piraino of Norwood, MA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Kathryn Marilyn Yanchuk on August 31, 2013 and three brothers, Francis E., George R. and Edward F. Yanchuk.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Fr. James R. O’Brien will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be provided by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.
