Rodney Miller

August 29, 1942 — October 25, 2015

Rodney “Rod” Maurice Miller, age 73, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center on Sunday, October 25, 2015. Born August 29, 1942, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Maurice W. and Elizabeth Leidig Miller.
Mr. Miller was a 1960 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. A retired Pennsylvania State Trooper, Mr. Miller dedicated 21 years to the force. After retiring from the Pennsylvania State Police, he worked 10 years at Jerr - Dan making rollback deliveries. He was a member of the George Washington Lodge #143, Zembo Shrine, Franklin County Shrine Club, VFW Post 1599, Marine Corps League, Elks #600, Fraternal Order of Police, and Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he was the had served as a Flotilla Commander. Rod participated in the Tall Ships Parade in NY Harbor and Baltimore Harbor on a safety boat, he also provided Hurricane relief to Katrina Victims. Rod was an avid Penn State Football fan; he enjoyed collecting toy trains, fishing, and hunting.
Surviving is his wife of 46 years, Kathryn Coulter Miller, whom he married on January 4, 1969, two sons, John Miller (wife Lorrie) and William Miller, both of Fayetteville, PA; three grandsons, Corey, Landon, and Kole Miller; a step granddaughter, Casey Barrows; and a great – granddaughter, McKenna Barrows .
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11 AM at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA.
