Roger D. Beaston, 63, of Fayetteville, PA, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, June 3, 2015 at Hershey Medical Center. Born June 23, 1951 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Gordon D. and Mary Stoner Beaston. Roger served in the National Guard for more than twenty years, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was employed for fourteen years with the former E.F. Goetz and Son Construction Corporation and for the past twenty years with the Guilford Water Authority. Roger was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pisgah Lodge #443 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest #145, the Harrisburg Consistory, and an advisor to Job’s Daughters Bethel #16. He was also Past Associate Grand Guardian of Pennsylvania. A civil war reenactor, he was a member of the 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. Roger loved to make people laugh and will be missed by all of those that he touched.
Roger is survived by his wife, Kathleen Plawischak Beaston, whom he married December 12, 1970; two daughters, Tonia S. Newell and husband Bill of Chambersburg and Lauren D. Beaston of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Corey Miller, Sabrina Newell, and Brooke Beaston; a great-granddaughter, Scarlet Gladfelter; a sister, Mary Shaffer and husband Ralph of Chambersburg; three brothers, John Beaston (wife Irene) of Clearwater, FL, Shane Carlin of York, PA, and Nicholas Carlin of Chambersburg; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special aunt, Blanche Stoner; and his favorite dog, Cooper.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Catherine Boileau officiating. Interment with military honors will be at 1:30PM Tuesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 PM Monday, June 8, 2015 at the funeral home where members of Mt. Pisgah Lodge #443 F&AM and Job’s Daughters will conduct services at 7:30 PM. Friends will also be received from 9:00-10:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
