Roger Gettel

Roger Lee Gettel, 58, of Chambersburg, PA passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, August, 25, 2021 in his home. Born June 23, 1963 in Chambersburg, PA he was the son of the late Harold H. and Delores E. (Patterson) Gettel.

He was a graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School with the Class of 1982 and also attended Franklin County Vo-Tech. Roger was employed as a Track Foreman for Maryland Midland Railway for 32 years. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his job.

Roger started his mornings with a cup of coffee and reading his Bible with his dog Bella by his side. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, working on cars and tractors, fixing and fabricating things, watching the Andy Griffith Show with his wife, and flipping items he found on Facebook Market Place. Roger was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Candy R. (Bowers) Gettel who he married July 20, 2013; two children, Michael and Kaitlyn Gettel both of Chambersburg; a step-daughter, Kera Lane of Fayetteville, PA; two step-grandsons, Zain and Bentley; three siblings, Don Gettel and his wife Sherry, Sue Merletti and her husband Frank, and Gretchen Stump and her husband Larry all of Chambersburg; his step-father, Crist Gettel of Shepherdstown, WV and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two siblings, Larry Gettel and Debbie Gettel.

Services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 1, 2021 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor John Pogue officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hall Cemetery, Pleasant Hall, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening in the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning. Those in attendance are welcomed to wear masks.
