Romaine Martin

Romaine B. “Bunky” Martin, 85, of 250 Sunbrook Drive, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday evening, May 8, 2011 at home. Born November 12, 1925 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Rosalie Brookens. Employed part-time at a number of local businesses during her lifetime, Romaine’s primary job was that of a loving wife, great mother, and dedicated homemaker. She was a faithful and longtime member of the Chambersburg Bible Church where she had at one time volunteered with the Bible Release program. She enjoyed puzzles, reading, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She volunteered with Operation Christmas Child for many years. Her beloved husband, Ralph Martin, whom she married August 15, 1942, preceded her in death on February 14, 2003.

Romaine is survived by three children, Charles E. and wife Eva Martin of Huntingdon, Donna M. Snider and husband Stephen of Chambersburg, and Katrina M. Cole and husband Daniel of Fayetteville; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dwain Brookens of Fayetteville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Brookens.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, May 13, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chamersburg, PA. Rev. Gary Yoder and Rev. John Springer will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
