Ronald S. Chambers, 81, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Menno Haven. Born May 30, 1936, in Lima, OH, he was the son of the late Howard and Martha Shank Chambers.
Ronald was a 1955 graduate of CASHS. He was employed as a truck driver with various trucking businesses until his retirement. He was also employed as a truck driving instructor at Hagerstown Junior College for 13 years. Ronald was an active member of King Street Church and participated in the Spiritual Care program with his wife for 30 years. He enjoyed bowling, collecting model trucks, and spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elva K. Chambers, whom he married on April 22, 1971; one daughter, Wendy Chambers of Gettysburg; step-son, Glenn Shetter and wife Linda of Chambersburg; two step-granddaughters, Lisa Byers and husband Jerry of Chambersburg, and Glenda Arnold and husband Kevin of Camp Hill; and six step-great grandchildren, Becca, Brenton, and Bryson Byers, and Alexander, Ava, and Avery Arnold.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service.
