Ronald Renshaw

Ronald Lee Renshaw of Chambersburg, PA, passed away from ALS on May 8, 2014 at 11:54 PM at the age of 69 with his family by his side. He was born in Mechanicsburg, PA on December 1, 1944 to the late Edmund L. Renshaw, II and Beuhla Wright Renshaw. He graduated from William Penn High School and worked for the United Telephone Company for 30 years. He was a generous man who loved playing with his grandchildren, cooking, singing hymns, woodworking, going for long walks, and working on computers. He was an active and dedicated member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg where he was a member of the H.O.P.E. Class. Ron cooked for the Wonderful Wednesday Dinners and for the Hungry Hearts Dinners held every Thursday for members of the community. He was instrumental in computerizing the church and he created the church website. Additionally he was active with the 3M Choir and the Endowment Fund Committee at the church.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Ann Reynolds Renshaw; his three children, Rebecca Lyn Renshaw (married to Jason Jacobetz), Deborah Ann Thomas (married to Jeffery Thomas), and Daniel Lee Renshaw (married to Brianna Glance Renshaw). He leaves behind six grandchildren who adored their Poppop: Tori, Logan, Laken, Makayla, Jaden, and Nathaniel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edmund L. Renshaw, III of Orlando, FL.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. A memorial service conducted by Reverend Donald C. Nolder will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 12, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 225 South Second Street, Chambersburg, PA, where friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the service begins at 11:00 AM. A reception featuring Ron’s recipes will be held immediately following the service at the church. Private burial for the family will precede the memorial service.
