Ronald Sites

November 10, 1940 — June 13, 2017

Ronald G. Sites, 76, of Marion, PA, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 10, 1940 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late George A. and Louise Kemp Sites. He retired from Guilford Township in 1996 after more than thirty years of employment. Mr. Sites was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church and a life member of both the Marion Volunteer Fire Company and the Franklin Fire Company. A sports enthusiast, he played softball with several local teams and enjoyed baseball, bowling, and Penn State Football. He had served as General Manager of the Chambersburg Cardinals and volunteered for more than thirty years with the 21 Day Retreat in Chambersburg. Mr. Sites was invited to and attended the 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training Camp in Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Burkett Sites, whom he married February 25, 1984; six children, Todd A. Sites (Wendy) of Durham, NC, Crystal L. Strayer (Bill), Kathy S. Weaber (Allan), Kim A. Higgins, and Matthew J. Sites (Heather), all of Chambersburg, and Kevin A. Boppe (Brenda) of Waynesboro; eighteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara Dice (Arthur) of Marion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 19, 2017 at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Road, Greencastle, PA. Rev. Gayle Ruble will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and from 10:00-11:00 AM Monday at the church.
