Rose Prieston, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, November 15, 2012 at her home. Born August 1, 1925 in Thompsonville, CT, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Stamatia Valedes. A graduate of Commerce High School in Yonkers, NY she had worked as a secretary at Ciba-Geigy Corporation in Ardsley, NY. Rose was a member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Chambersburg and a former member of Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church in Yonkers, NY where she was active with numerous church activities. She volunteered for many years at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers while living in New York. Her husband, Thomas E. Prieston, preceded her in death on January 22, 1992.
She is survived by two sons, Evans T. Prieston and wife Cathy and Thomas E. Prieston, all of Chambersburg; and two grandchildren, Elena and Jonathan Prieston. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Mary Orthodox Church, 2063 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA, 17202 with Father Theodore Pulcini officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 17, 2012 at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings On Hudson, NY with Rev. Dr. Nicholas Pilavas officiating.
