Rosemary Mills

January 6, 1963 — December 7, 2023

Rosemary Mills, lovingly known as “Rose” or “Rosie,” went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2023, when she passed away at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. She was 60 years old and resided in Chambersburg, PA. Born January 6, 1963 in Cumberland, MD, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Smith and Nola Jeneanne Murray Ruthrauff and Harold Charles Ruthrauff, III and Pauline D. Ruthrauff of Chambersburg, PA. Rosemary was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School. Rose lived her whole life as a fighter, with her first victory being her overcoming childhood cancer as a young teenager. Because of this, she never took one day of her life for granted.

Rose was a foster parent with Family Care Services, Inc. for many years, opening her loving home to countless children. She touched and changed the lives of so many people. Family was everything to Rose, and she loved time spent with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rose loved and spoiled her pets and never missed a chance to cook something delicious for a family gathering. Rose was so proud of her beautiful flower beds each summer. And, she loved nothing more than showering those she loved with gifts for holidays and special occasions. Rose just loved to talk and laugh, and she would spend hours chatting with her very close sister, Sue, her sister-in-Law, Mary, and her good friend, Patty. She was completely selfless and would always give to others before herself.

While Rose cherished each day that she lived, she also knew that the Lord would have a place ready for her when the time was right. She enjoyed attending church at the Salvation Army, participating in their ministry programs and volunteering her time when she was able.

In addition to her parents, Harold and Pauline, she is survived by her husband of 26 years, Ray C. Mills; her children, Angel Mills Hang and Steven Pralour Mills; siblings Julia Sue Angle, Jessie Ruthrauff, John Fisher, Anthony Fisher, Scott Smith, and Hope Broadwater; and her many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Joanne Mills, and siblings-in law, Brenda Thomsen, Cheryl Mills, Mike Mills and Brian Mills. In addition to her parents Elmer and Jeneanne, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Charles Ruthrauff, IV; and two nephews, Weston Rock and David Rock.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Salvation Army Church, 159 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA. Major Chris Mauk will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:00 AM on Friday at the Salvation Army Church. Interment will be at 1:00 PM on Friday at Glendale Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Flintstone, MD.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army Corps, 159 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
