Roy G. Hockenberry, 70, of Chambersburg, PA passed away January 4, 2025 in his home. Born August 10, 1954 in Perry County, PA he was the son of the late Rodney and Cora (Hampton) Hockenberry.
He was employed as a tank supervisor for Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. Following his retirement from the depot he went to work as a maintenance and grounds worker for Menno Haven Retirement Community. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Chambersburg and the Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge No. 315.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Kristin Thornton (husband Mike) of Chambersburg; step-son, John Starr (wife Amber) of Mercersburg, PA; six grandchildren, Joshua and Allison Starr, Kellen, Kashtin, Karra, Kamron Thornton; and siblings Leonard Hockenberry of Doylesburg, PA, Merle Hockenberry of Chambersburg, Evelyn Woodward of Duncannon, PA, Audrey Colledge of Mechanicsburg, PA, Vada Zimmerman, Marysville, PA, Ella Hockenberry of East Waterford, PA, Nancy Harris of Doylesburg, PA and Bonnie Zeigler of Shade Gap, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Roxanne Tammy Hockenberry that passed away September 2, 2020; a son, Nicholas Hockenberry; and five siblings.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Rev. John Starr officiating. Arrangements are entrusted Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
