Roy J. Skinner, age 88, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 31, 2017. Born March 23, 1929, in Mt. Vernon, NY, he was the son of the late John R. and Bertha Soukup Skinner.
A 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Mr. Skinner went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. An electrician by trade, Mr. Skinner worked in construction most of his adult life as a member of the IBEW, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion Post 46, the VFW Post 1599, The National Association of Destroyer Veterans (Tin Can Sailors), the George Washington Lodge #143, and A.B.A.T.E. (Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education).
Surviving are two daughters, Diane R. Skinner of Chambersburg, PA and Tracey E. Skinner (husband John Wetzel) of Clarksville, MD; a step-son, Darryl Foor (wife Suzi) of VA; two grandchildren, Reese and Carly Wetzel of Clarksville, MD; and two step-grandchildren, Darryn Foor of Portland, OR and Kelly Foor (husband Don) of New Enterprise, PA.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at 1 PM in Norland Cemetery, Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Dr. Dianne B. Salter will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hungry Hearts, c/o First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to SCCAP (South Central Community Action Programs), 533 S. Main St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
