Russel Kriner

March 26, 1926 — July 9, 2012

Russel F. Kriner, age 86, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, July 9, 2012. Born March 26, 1926 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Lester S. and Anna C. Ricker Kriner.
A US Navy veteran, Mr. Kriner served honorably during WWII aboard the USS LCS L3 117 in the Pacific Theater. He was a life member of the Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, American Legion Post 46, the Marine Corps League, Landis - McCleaf Detachment, and the St. Thomas Sportsman’s Association; in addition, he was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance in Scotland, PA, the National Association of USS LCS (L) 1-130, the Veterans of the Vietnam War, Post 41, and a Life associate of the US Navy Memorial. Mr. Kriner enjoyed working, he worked at the Speer Coal Company for 27 years and at the former Oliver Oil Company and current Shipley Oil Company for 43 years, where he retired in April of 2011; if he wasn’t working you could find Russ spending time with his family and grandchildren, going to church, hunting, or fishing in his spare time.

Surviving is he beloved wife of 61 years, Blanche M. Wagaman Kriner, whom he married on August 5, 1950; two daughters, Brenda L. Kriner of Chambersburg and Holly B. Piper (husband Troy) of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, April Mae Diem (husband Eric), Keisha Marie Kriner, Lina Renae Piper, and Sadie Beth Piper; one great-granddaughter, Arielle Mae Diem; four siblings, Lester E. Kriner of Shippensburg, PA and Leonard B., Richard, and Thomas Kriner all of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, John, Herbert, and Joseph Kriner and one sister, Herthel C. Raia .
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Reuben Coldsmith will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment with military honors provided by members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Honor Guard will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
