Russell E. Brown, age 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at home on Friday, August 12, 2022. Born March 26, 1936, in Maddensville, PA, he was the son of the late Orris and Ruth (Cramer) Brown.
Mr. Brown was a 1954 graduate of the former Saltillo High School. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army. Mr. Brown worked in Maintenance at the former Pet Ritz Company in Chambersburg for 36 years, retiring in 1998. He attended Grand Point Church in Chambersburg and was a member of the American Legion Post 46 and a life member of the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club, both in Chambersburg. He was also a life member of the Lonestar Hunting Club. Mr. Brown enjoyed fishing, hunting, spoiling his granddaughter, Tara, mall walking, taking bus trips to Branson, MO, and cheering on the Phillies.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Betty J. (Bennett) Brown, whom he married on July 13, 1963; two sons, Randy E. Brown (wife Mary) of Scotland, PA and Brian L. Brown (wife Stephanie) of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Jonathon Brown (wife Katelynn) of Orrstown, PA, Matthew Brown of Fayetteville, PA, Hunter Brown of Chambersburg, and Tara Brown of Scotland; one great-grandson, Greyson Brown of Orrstown, PA; and three siblings, Viola Pollock, Wilda Mills (Edwin), and Nelson Brown (Janet). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Lawrence Metzler will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Tuesday. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
