Ruth M. Catlett

Ruth M. Catlett, 85, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at her home. Born November 12, 1939, in Gladwin, MI, she was the daughter of the late Hazen and Bernice Greer. Her beloved husband of 60 years, Lowell T. “Tom” Catlett, preceded her in death on January 8, 2021.

Ruth was a 1957 graduate of Gladwin High School. Early in her life she was employed as a secretary in the pressroom of a newspaper company. She later was the owner/operator of We Are Ceramics in Gaithersburg, Maryland and was an Avon sales representative. Most of her life she dedicated herself to making a home for her family who she cared for and treasured dearly. Ruth was a member of Marion First United Methodist Church where she served in many different volunteer capacities and sang in the church choir. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband and family.

She is survived by two children, David Catlett and Cindy Catlett, both of Hagerstown, MD; four grandchildren, Kayley Hoffman and husband Kurt of Orrtanna, PA, Paige Wilde and husband Spencer of Hagerstown, MD, Stephanie Hilton of Portland, OR, and Timothy Hilton of San Diego, CA; three great-grandchildren, Levi Hoffman, Chloe Hoffman, and Aria Wilde; and two siblings, John Greer and wife Phyllis, and Betty Stone. Aside from her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by ten siblings, Ike, Vern, Rene, Sal, Don, Lois, Bev, Jerry, Ken and Marion.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Marion First United Methodist Church, 94 Colorado St., Marion, PA 17235. Rev. Brent Stouffer will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
