Ruth A. Hendershot Frank, 90, of Chambersburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 16, 2021 at The Shook Home. Born October 17, 1931 in Fulton County, PA, she was a daughter of the late J. William and Viola Souders Hendershot. A graduate of the McConnellsburg High School she was employed early in her life at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg. She later retired from Franklin Feed where she worked for many years as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Frank was a member of Grand Point Church and served as assistant Sunday school teacher for the Willing Workers Sunday school class. She volunteered for many years with the Bible Release program and her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, and flower gardening. Her husband, Ernest L. Frank, whom she married June 30, 1973, preceded her in death on December 12, 1998.
She is survived by three children, Roxanne M. Bricker (Ashley) of Chambersburg, Robert F. Rockwell of St. Thomas, and Jodi F. Zeis (Marlin) of Greencastle; three step-children, Vickie L. Witter (Jeff) of Fayetteville, Douglas K. Frank (Paula) of Hanover, and Marla L. Minnich of Waynesboro; eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five siblings, Berenice Reasner of Chambersburg, Sarah “Sally” Garland of Needmore, Harry Edward Hendershot of McConnellsburg, John Hendershot of Mercersburg, and Dorothy Mellott of Chambersburg. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Short” Hendershot and Gary Hendershot; a sister, Laura Rockwell; and her step son-in-law, Steven Minnich.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 19, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Lawrence Metzler will officiate. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
