Ruth Hege

Ruth Edna Hege, age 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday morning, October 9, 2013. Born November 28, 1918 near Williamson, Franklin County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Henry L. and Hattie L. Seigrist Hege. A graduate of the former St. Thomas High School, she received a Bachelor’s Degree and did post graduate work at Shippensburg State Teacher’s College. She taught first and second grade for thirty-six years in the Chambersburg Area School District at Marion Elementary School. She was a member of the Old Order River Brethren, a former member of the National Education Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, and the local Education Association.

She is survived by one nephew, Dale Hege Myers and wife Sarah and a great niece, Hannah Jean Myers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Frances Hege Myers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Portico Meeting House, Chambersburg, PA with Kenneth Meyers, Howard Meyers, and Daniel Wingert officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:30 AM Saturday at the meeting house.
