Ruth Wiley

Nearly 91 years ago on August 28, 1926, the world became a better place when Ruth Ellen (Fisher) Wiley was born to the late Parker and Estella (Wolfe) Fisher in the town of Dillsburg, PA. Ruth stated in a journal she had a good childhood with loving parents.
Ruth was a member of Christian Life Church on Warm Spring Rd. She was very active in all the Assembly of God Churches her husband pastored over the years. Ruth enjoyed cooking delicious meals and baking pies for her family and friends. She loved to serve others with her kind, gentle, sweet and many times humorous spirit. She loved to sing, play piano and organ for many church occasions and many times played the accordion as a special treat. Ruth believed everything had an answer through prayer and trusting God for miracles. She was faithful to God, her family and her friends. Heaven has now gained a beautiful, genuine soul on August 5, 2017; she will be deeply missed by all.
Two of her greatest joys were becoming the wife of Rev. LeRoy W. Wiley, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage, and becoming the mother of 10 children, Shirley Plyler (Darrell) of Punxsutawney, PA, Barbara Fabin (Stan) of Indiana, PA, Judith Wood (Tom) of Pittsburgh, PA, Sharon Schaade (Paul) of Cordova, TN, James Wiley (Linda) of Allentown, PA, John Wiley (Bonnie) of Everett, PA, Brinda VanLeuven (Jerry) of Birdsboro, PA, Kevin Wiley (Carla) of Chambersburg, PA, and Debra Reed (John) of Chambersburg, PA; the blessings continued throughout her life with 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother Claire Fisher, a daughter Linda Wiley in 1974, and a great-granddaughter Emily Fabin.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at 11 AM at Christian Life Church, 1400 Warm Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor Joseph Pickens and Steven Barnett will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, from 6 – 8 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the above church and address. Interment will follow the service in Dillsburg Cemetery at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Spiritrust Lutheran Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
