S. Max Miller, age 79, of Dry Run, PA passed away on Tuesday evening, April 8, 2014 at Hershey Medical Center. Born March 3, 1935 on his family’s farm, he was the son of the late Randall Franklin and Dorothy Widney Miller.
A 1953 graduate of Fannett Township High School, Max attended the Pennsylvania State University then worked for New Enterprise Stone and Lime as a Construction Superintendent until his retirement in 1995 after 33 years of service. Max was a member of Doylesburg United Methodist Church where he served as the financial secretary. A 32nd degree Mason, he was also was a member of Orrstown Lodge #262 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg Consistory, and the Fannett-Metal Volunteer Fire Company. He loved his family, farming, sports, and hunting. He was known as a great “jokester” and loved life. Max was a great husband, father and pap. His dog “Indi” was always with him anytime he went somewhere in his truck.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Grace Love Miller, whom he married on January 26, 1957, three children, Patricia Smith and husband Mark, Steven Miller and wife Susie, and Sue Kreigline, all of Dry Run; and four grandsons, Jordan Miller of Dry Run, Logan Miller of Shippensburg, and Ethan and Eddie Kreigline of Dry Run.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 14, 2014 in the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA 17220. Rev. DeAnn Newhouse, Rev. Marian Hartman and Rev. James Fox will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted by members of the Orrstown Lodge #262 F&AM Sunday evening at 8:00 PM.
