Samuel S. Fitz, 64, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday morning, May 13, 2018 at Hershey Medical Center. Born January 19, 1954 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Samuel A. and Winifred Fitz. Sam was a 1972 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He was currently employed at Cumberland Truck and Equipment Company in Carlisle and had previously worked at TB Woods Sons Inc. and the former Frey Motors, both in Chambersburg. Sam was an active member of the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren where he was a member of the Believers Sunday School Class, sang with the choir, and had served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Properties Commission. He was a former member and Past President of the Chambersburg Evening Lions Club; had served as a Boy Scout leader; and especially enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie J. Frey Fitz, whom he married March 6, 1976; his son, Adam Fitz and wife Melissa; three grandchildren, Giuliana, Lilia, and Theodore Fitz; his brother C. Patrick Fitz, his wife Ann, and their daughter Jennifer Fitz.
A service to celebrate Sam’s life will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Chambersburg Church of the Brethren with Rev. Joel F. Nogle and Rev. Elizabeth A. Thorpe officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM Thursday at the church. Private interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
