Sandra Marlene Curfman, 88, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at The Shook Home. Born September 27, 1932 in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Hazel Bowling Mumper. She was a graduate of the Gettysburg High School and attended the York Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Curfman had been employed at Corning Glass for 5 years and then at Howard Johnson’s in Chambersburg for 29 years prior to her retirement. She was a Member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg where she and her husband volunteered with Meals on Wheels and she was a member of the Women of ELCA. She loved reading, puzzles, and playing cards.
Mrs. Curfman is survived by her husband, William R. Curfman, whom she married April 26, 1952; five children, Gary Curfman and wife Diane of Chambersburg, Kay Lambros and husband Tony of Maryland, Martin Curfman and wife Barb of Chambersburg, Laurie Brown and husband Tim of Carlisle, and Robert Curfman and wife Sandy of Carlisle; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Monna Mumper and Jayne Hicken; and a brother, Albert Mumper.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 25, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Jane Nicholson will officiate. Private interment will be in Lower Path Valley Cemetery, Fannettsburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
