Sarah Pauline Heck, 90, a resident at the Shook Home in Chambersburg, passed away Monday evening, May 2, 2016 at the nursing home. Born January 9, 1926 in Cove Gap, PA, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Minnie Pearl Bentz Deck. Mrs. Heck was a graduate of the former Lemasters High School and during WWII was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, where she met her future husband. She was employed for many years at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg prior to her retirement. Mrs. Heck was a member of King Street United Brethren Church and its Golden Links Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed bus trips with the Prime Timers at the church and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandson and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees #1063 and AARP. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, and sewing. Her husband, Earl C. Heck, preceded her in death on January 5, 1995.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Lesher and husband Bill of Orrstown and Gloria Souders of Chambersburg; her grandson Jason Peters and wife Melissa; and great-grandchildren Justin and Morgan Peters, all of Chambersburg. The last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, George, and Donald Deck; her sister, Ethel Foster; and her son-in-law Garry Souders on June 21, 2011.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Lincoln Cemetery. Rev. Lester F. Stine and Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate.
