Sarah Louise Crawford Peters 87, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, James W. Peters, who passed away on August 22, 2002.
Sarah was born February 14, 1926, in Halfway, MD, the daughter of Chester P. Crawford and Clara Shearer Crawford. Sarah graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1945 and was a member of the Class of ’45. From high school she went on to graduate from the Chambersburg Business School.
She worked for the Stanley in Chambersburg, was a Red Cross Nurse’s Aide in NJ, for the Morristown Memorial Hospital, and managed the Millinery Department at Whitner’s Department Store in Reading, PA.
Sarah was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church.
She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1599, and a member of the AARP Falling Spring Chapter.
Sarah loved her friends and the get-togethers with her friends and former classmates at the VFW and the Elks. She attended what she referred to as “School” at the Lutheran Home in Chambersburg during the week. She loved her cat Max and her birds and always kept the feeders full.
Most of all she loved her children, her son Terry L. Peters, daughter-in-law Pamela J. Peters, grandson Brian J. Peters, his wife Joann A. Peters, and great grandson Nathan T. Peters all of Reading, PA, and her very good friend Joanne Cochran. She also remembers the kindness of all her friends and neighbors during times of need.
Sarah wishes were to go quietly without a service. She will be sadly missed by everyone. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter.
