Sarah Umbrell

Sarah Catherine Umbrell, 85, of Doylesburg, PA, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born September 21, 1931 in Spring Run, she was a daughter of the late Paul J. and Sarah K. Shields Junkin.

Sarah was a graduate of the former Fannett Township High School and then attended the former Chambersburg School of Business. She was employed at the former National Bank of Chambersburg and also was employed as a secretary at Fannett-Metal School District. Sarah was a member of Spring Run United Methodist Church. She enjoyed making quilts, afghans, sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lyle S. Umbrell, whom she married on December 12, 1953; three children, Sarah Jane Umbrell of Dry Run, Matthew L. Umbrell (Ida Mae) of Dry Run, and Edward L. Umbrell (Regina) of Doylesburg; four grandchildren, Paul, Eliza, Trevor and Kenzie Umbrell; two great grandchildren; and three siblings, Thomas Junkin (Lorraine) of Willow Hill, Mary Swartz (Ray) of Newburg, and Ruth Ross of Bellwood, PA. She was preceded in death by two sons, John and Donald Umbrell and a brother, David Junkin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Spring Run United Methodist Church, 16667 Main Street, Spring Run, PA 17262. Rev. Darwin Goshorn will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Upper Path Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family requests the omission of flowers and asks that memorial contributions be made to Spring Run United Methodist Church General Fund at the above address.
