Senior Airman William Hunter Kirkpatrick, 25, a long-time resident of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 19, 2015 in Montgomery, Alabama. Hunter was born in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania on May 04, 1990. He was a 2008 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and attended the Pennsylvania State University. During college, he was called to serve his country and enlisted in United States Air Force on August 13, 2013. After completing basic training in San Antonio, Texas, he was assigned to Keesler AFB, Mississippi, to complete the Communications-Computer Systems Operations technical school. It was there where he met his bride and best friend, Amber Lynn Bond. Following technical school, he was assigned to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Maxwell AFB – Gunter Annex in Alabama as a Central Database Developer.
Hunter lived a life filled with selfless compassion and love for everyone. While in Montgomery, Hunter was active in the community leading the Lagoon Park Restoration Project, volunteering as a youth soccer referee, and serving as the President of the First Four Organization at Maxwell Air Force, Gunter Annex. A cause that was near and dear to his heart was the Alabama Angels Pageant, an event for special needs children, for which he served as an escort. He never met a stranger and would go out of the way to make all feel welcome. He was best known for his winning smile and generous heart. An avid athlete and outdoorsman, Hunter enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, running, and golf. As a student, he played soccer and in high school lettered in lacrosse.
Hunter is survived by his wife Amber and their daughter, Harper Reese Kirkpatrick of Montgomery, Alabama; parents, William & Carole (Mitchell) Kirkpatrick of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania; a sister, Ashley (Kirkpatrick) Williams and her husband Brian, nephews Maddox & Samuel Williams, and niece Caroline Williams all of Jefferson City, TN; a grandmother, Sandra T. Kirkpatrick of Greencastle, PA; a grandfather, Rev. J. Donald Mitchell of Talbott, TN; mother-in-law, Donna L. Bond- Saucier of Gulfport MS; father-in-law, MSgt Charlie P. Bond, Jr. of Gulfport, MS; brother-in-law Brandon Dearman, his wife Jana & their children: Lacey, Kelsie & Denton of Gulfport, MS; sister-in-law Andrea Bond of Gulfport, MS; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Hunter was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dr. William H. Kirkpatrick of Greencastle, PA, and his maternal grandmother, Mary B. Mitchell of Talbott, TN.
Visitation will be Friday, November 27, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 PM at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM at King Street United Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, with burial to follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
