Sharon Young

Sharon D. Young, 61, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 31, 2017, in her home. Born October 6, 1955, she is the youngest daughter of the late Kathleen Bayer and the late John Bayer Sr. Sharon is survived by her husband, Marvin R. Young; children Blair K. Young and Alexander M. Young; sister, Bonnie Garrett; sister, Audrey Willard (Joe); brother, John Bayer Jr (Tammy); and mother-in-law, Margaretta Young.

Sharon worked as a nurse at Chambersburg Hospital for 30 years, meticulously caring for each of her patients. In 2008 she participated in the Hospital’s first Fast Track Program and became a registered nurse. Over the years her work colleagues became her second family.

Sharon enjoyed baking pies, canning vegetables, gardening, making cards, painting, and taking weekend drives in her ’74 Corvette with her husband.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Salem United Brethren Church, 4349 Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Art Page and Rev. Jason Bakker will officiate. Interment will follow in Brechbill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary, 112 North 7th St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to Salem United Brethren Church at the above address.
