Sharyn Ann Baker, 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Promedica in Chambersburg. Born December 20, 1944 in New Haven, CT, she was the daughter of the late William and Eleanor Scarpa Swanson. Sharyn was a graduate of the Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven and then attended South Central Community College in Long Wharf working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education. She was employed for 10 years at the Yeladim Childcare Center in Woodbridge, CT. A loving and dedicated homemaker, wife and mother, Sharyn will be remembered fondly for her love of children; her infectious laughter; and her devoted following of Jesus, passing her faith onto her children. She was a champion for the underdog and continuously took stray and injured dogs into her home. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, especially for the children in her daycare. Sharyn was a faithful member of Branford Bible Chapel in Branford, CT.
Sharyn is survived by her husband, James Clarence Baker, whom she married February 20, 1965; four children, James William Baker of Chappell Hill, TX, Kimberly Elaine Baker Merkle and husband William of Chambersburg, Ryan Christopher Baker and wife Sherry of Belchertown, MA, and David Shawn Baker and wife Tamika of New Haven, CT; seventeen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services and interment will be private.
