Shelva J. Moats, 80, of Mont Alto, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at The Gardens of Gettysburg. Born November 12, 1937, in Worleytown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Raymond K. and Grace P. Trout Meyers.
Shelva was a graduate of Greencastle High School. Early in her life she was employed at South Mountain Restoration Center. She was later employed as a Home Health Nurse for Lutheran Home Care and most recently privately employed as a home nurse. Shelva was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, flower gardening and was known for her excellent cooking and baking.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Wilton J. Moats, whom she married on April 2, 1965; two daughters, Stacy Rowe (husband Bradley) of Shippensburg, Heather Mong (husband Travis) of Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren, Cody Bakner and Joshua and Allison Rowe; and one brother, Richard Meyers of Mont Alto. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Clarence Meyers, Shirley Suders and Robert Meyers.
A memorial service to celebrate Shelva’s life will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday July 16, 2018, at Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, 2509 Black Gap Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Garry Culler and Rev. Jim Bolich will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Monday at the church.
