Shirley Jane Ankney, age 80, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 27, 1937, in Chambersburg, PA she was a daughter of the late Norman Etter and Daisy Guyer Etter.
Mrs. Ankney worked most of her adult life at Knouse Foods, as a Lab Technician, retiring in 2003. She enjoyed caring for her property, doing yardwork, gardening, and planning family events and holiday meals for the entire family. However, her passion was spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Surviving are her children, Rhonda Mower (Fiancé Scott Oberholzer) of Greencastle, PA, Tina Moody (Husband Wayne) of Chambersburg, PA, and Dana Cox (wife Kerri) of Loomis, California; step-children, John Ankney (wife Sherri) and Nancy Potts (husband Gary), both of Lancaster, PA; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and a sister, Helen Small of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted Cox in 1967; her second husband, Kenneth Ankney in 1999; her brother, Nyle; her sister, Doris; and her step-grandson, Mason.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017, at 1 PM in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Murray B. Stevens will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her name to the charity of one’s choice.
