Shirley Campbell Best, 88, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023 in Brookview Healthcare Center. Born on May 31, 1935 in Doylesburg, PA, she was a daughter of R. Carl and Edna Eckenrode Campbell.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert H. Best, whom she married on November 24, 1955; two sons, Perry (Julie) Best of Newark, DE, and Eric (Mary) Best of Sterling, VA; four grandchildren, Cory Best (Jessica) of Middletown, DE, Kiley Vied (Mike) of Middletown, DE, Kevin Best of Aldie, VA, and Kara Best of Ashburn, VA; six great grandchildren, Finley, Reese, Sully, Lincoln, Laney, and Savannah; and one brother, Don Campbell (Cindy) of Boiling Springs. Aside from her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Campbell.
A homemaker while she raised her family, Shirley had worked for the Borough of Chambersburg for a number of years and also volunteered her time at the former ManorCare Nursing Home in Chambersburg, and enjoyed playing piano, singing and was an avid reader.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Fr. Allan Wolfe will celebrate. Interment will follow the service in Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Monday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Condolences may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com
