Shirley Marie Bowers (nee Patterson), of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 18 at the age of 83, with her family by her side.
Shirley was born in Chambersburg to Mabel and Ralph Patterson on June 2, 1938. She graduated from Chambersburg Area High School in 1956. She began her career at the Stanley Company and through the years she worked for the Chambersburg School District and The Nutrition Center. In her earlier years, she was an avid tennis player and golfer. She loved playing games in general with her friends and family, including bridge, pinochle, mahjongg, and dominoes. Shirley had a big heart for all animals, and particularly, cats. She would always find room in her heart for one more stray cat.
Shirley was a kind, caring, strong woman who was a loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved deeply and will be missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Bowers, who she met after graduating from high school. They were married for just shy of 63 years. They raised three children together, Patrice Greenblatt (Steve), Michelle Starliper (Greg), and Stacey Bowers (Jeff McClelland). She is survived by her brother Donald Patterson (Sandy); grandchildren, Michael Greenblatt (Michael Burkin), David Greenblatt (Wenn Siak), Daniel Greenblatt (Amy) and Jonathon Greenblatt (Sophie) and Kylie (nee Starliper) Myers (Cade); and her great-grandchildren, Kia, Quentin, Miriam, Francis, Thea, and Esme. She was loyal to her family and friends.
A memorial service to honor Shirley's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Chambersburg Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 230 Siloam Road, Chambersburg, PA.
