Shirley D. Cook, 79, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 13, 1937, in Mercersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Louise Grove. Her beloved husband, Frank E. Cook, preceded her in death in 1992.
Shirley was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for over 20 years until her retirement in 1992. She then was employed at Knouse Foods until she retired in 2007. She was a member of Fayetteville Church of God and enjoyed going for car rides and stopping for ice cream.
Shirley is survived by two sons, David E. Cook and wife Stephony, and Frank O. Cook and wife Fawne, both of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Missy Cook of Fayetteville, Jennifer Runk and husband Jason of Shippensburg, Beau Cook of New Franklin, and Christina Cook of St. Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Cole Runk, Kaylee Runk, Grace Runk, Mason Anderson, Peyton Cook, Sadie Cook, Summer Holtry, and Ashlyn Cook; and two siblings, Levon Stanton of Harrisburg, PA and Milland “Duke” Grove of Greencastle, PA.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Staci Geesaman will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
