Shirley “Kate” Plum, age 88 of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Menno Haven’s Brookview Personal Care Home.
Born May 8, 1935, in Blairs Mills, PA, she was the youngest daughter of the late Alva C. and Beulah C. Parson. Shirley was the last surviving of their 10 children. She was married to the late Clarence “Bud” Plum on December 18, 1952, He preceded her in death on March 11, 2004.
Shirley was a member of the Chambersburg Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher in her early years. Shirley was employed at the Stanley Company for 31 years prior to devoting her life to her real passion; that of a fulltime mother, homemaker, and caregiver. Shirley loved to cook. She was well known for her amazing apple pies and square-dancing with Bud.
Surviving are 3 children; Michael Plum (Beverly), Kimberly Hammond, David Plum (Jennifer); 9 grandchildren; Melissa Eyer (Joshua), David Plum, Derek Plum (Julia), Lindsay Weller, Katie Mellott (Philip), Crystal Plum, Ben Weller (Camry), Dillon Plum, and Caleb Plum (Alana); and 12 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 12:00 noon at The Chambersburg Baptist Church, 741 Coldbrook Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Pastor Kenny Craig officiating. The family will receive friends at the above church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Chambersburg Baptist Church Children’s Ministry at the address above.
