Shirley Yourkavitch

Shirley A. “Mern” Yourkavitch, 77, of Fayetteville, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 in her home. Born on April 18, 1935 in Gettysburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Robert Clay Boyles and Dorothy Mae Boyer Boyles Thompson.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Robin Ott of Chambersburg and Terri Scanlon (husband, Marty) of Gouldsboro, PA; her brother, Robert A. “Pete” Boyles of Chambersburg; her uncle, Robert Boyer (wife, Carolyn) of Chambersburg; grandchildren, Angel Snider and G. Denny Coldsmith Jr., both of Chambersburg and Andrea Patterson of Gouldsboro; step grandchildren, Phil and Shelby Scanlon, also of Gouldsboro; and 9 great grandchildren.

Shirley was retired from the federal government, having worked many years at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. A member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, August 27, in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with visitation from 12-1 PM. Rev. Eloise M. Shanley will officiate. Interment in Lincoln Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave. Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
