Always first to say “I love you,” to wrap his arms around his mama's neck, hold his sisters' hand and volunteer for a road trip with daddy, Silas was the most precious gift—the purest reflection of God's love and beauty in the world. Born December 14, 2004, in Chambersburg, PA, He was Daniel and Tricia's miracle baby, defying odds at birth, embracing life with exuberance and joy. His sister Sadie was his second mama, and he couldn't leave his sister Sophie alone for one minute. He was full of himself and bursting with love for them at every moment.
His family will always remember those things that he loved—antique tractor shows, exploring with his kitty Mabel, playing (and winning) monopoly, kicking around the soccer ball, building fires with his pappy, wrestling with his sisters, hunting with his daddy and working in the garden with mama, surprising her with wildflower bouquets and heart shaped stones—but most of all he just loved being home, surrounded by his family, cuddled up in his mama's lap.
Family members dearly loved by Silas include his parents Daniel J. and Tricia K. (Rowles) Bland, his sisters Sadie E. and Sophie K. Bland, maternal grandparents Jackie and Wanda (Shannon) Rowles, paternal grandmother Nancy L. (Pye) Bland, maternal great-grandparents Warren and Arlene (Baughman) Yaggie, Uncles, Troy (Jen) and Trenton (Christy) Rowles, Aunt Kaite Bland (David) Klopp as well as numerous great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
Among those welcoming him into heaven are his paternal grandfather, Melvin L. Bland, and maternal great-grandparents, Raymond and Clara (Stake) Rowles.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20 from 11am to 1pm with a Memorial service immediately following at Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro, PA. Ray and Shaun Kipe will officiate. Burial will take place at New Guilford Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Silas' name to Shalom Christian Academy, 126 Social Island Rd, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
