Sonja Kay Cool, 76, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at her home. Born November 26, 1938 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Josephine Chronister Shindledecker. Mrs. Cool retired from Knouse Foods in Chambersburg where she had worked for more than 30 years. She was a member of the AMVETS Auxiliary and enjoyed puzzles. She was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Her husband, George David Cool, whom she married April 16, 1960, preceded her in death on December 10, 1996.
She is survived by five children, Mitzi A. Hoover (husband Darryl) of Chambersburg, Paul E. Cool (wife Mathilde) of Colorado Springs, CO, William W. Cool of Chambersburg, Sherry D. Cool of Newport News, VA, and David K. Cool of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Marlin; and a grandson, Justin Hoover.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, March 2, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Phillip Zook officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 Monday at the funeral home.
