Sonja J. Thompson, 51, of Chambersburg, died on Monday May 2, 2011 at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg. Born December 5, 1959 in Oahu, HI she was the daughter of Marjorie J. Duden Vananda of Golden Valley, AZ and the late Harry S. Martinson. Sonja had been employed at Sunnyway Foods in Chambersburg.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her fiancé, Douglas Mellott of Chambersburg, PA; a daughter, Selina Peters Laforest of Flint, MI; a brother, O’Dean Martinson of Houston, TX; 2 sisters, Mary Harbaugh of Waynesboro, PA and Patricia Breckenridge of Swartz Creek, MI; and 3 grandchildren. Sonja is also survived by 6 nieces and nephews. Aside from her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Brian Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday May 5, 2011 in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, PA 17202. Services and interment will be private.
