Stanley Novak

September 21, 1925 — November 28, 2013

Stanley P. Novak, age 88, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at the Sarah Todd Nursing home in Carlisle, PA. Born September 21, 1925 in West Hazelton, PA, he was the son of the late Peter J. and Teofilia Makoviecka Novak.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Novak served honorably during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam until his retirement in 1970. He went on to work at the South Mountain Restoration Center retiring in 1982 after ten years of service as the Supervisor of the Dietary Department. Stan was passionate about serving his country. He was an avid swimmer. Other interests included, dancing, walking, traveling, and cooking. Stan proudly volunteered with the Red Cross, and served the community through delivering meals on wheels.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Margaret M. Novak; two daughters, Nancy Martofel of Vancouver, WA and Susan Novak-King of Portland, OR; two step-sons, Timothy Moran (wife Barbara) of Chambersburg, PA and Mark Moran (wife Constance) of Chambersburg, PA; two grandchildren, Albert William Martofel of Vancouver, WA and John Peter King of Portland, OR; two great – grandchildren, Torren and Drew Cooksey; step-grandchildren, Tyler (wife Tera), Brittney, Kristen, and Connor Moran and Michael Boswell; and a sister, Dorothy Quinn.. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a previous wife, Betty Beven Novak, and siblings, Leona, Helen, Irene, and John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Fr. James R. O’Brien will celebrate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow the Mass at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1:30 PM on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stan’s name to Coprus Christi Catholic Church at the above address.
