Stell D. Pierce

Stell Delk Pierce was quietly called to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 just shy of her 98th birthday. She had been residing in Brookview Healthcare Center, Chambersburg, PA for the past 3 years after living in Franklin, VA for 70 years. 

Stell was born on August 10, 1926 in Tidewater, VA. She was predeceased by her husband, Horace L. Pierce, Jr., her father, Clarence S. Delk, mother, Crystell Moody Delk, and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Pierce. She is survived by her two children, Glenn T. Pierce (Sandy) and Sandra P. Nelson (Chuck); four grandchildren, Josh B. Nelson (April), Kate N. Tucker (Ryan), Jennifer P. Thomas (J.J.), and Ryan T. Pierce (Heather). She is also survived by three great-grandchildren; Kylah Nelson, Hattie Nelson, and Jaxson Tucker along with her beloved honorary children, Rick Poole and Beth Drake of Franklin, VA.

Stell graduated from Surry High School in 1943 and attended PanAmerican Business School in Richmond, VA. In June of 1950 she married Horace L. Pierce, Jr. of Suffolk, VA. They would move to Franklin, VA in 1951 where they resided for 70 years. She was an active member of the community, devoted wife and loving mother, returning to the work force at Bronco Federal Credit in 1969. She retired from there in 1986, to spend time traveling and enjoying the Outer Banks of NC. 

Stell was a lifelong member of Franklin Baptist Church and along with the many roles she had in service at the church was being one of the 1st women Deacons. She was also a member of the Sew and Sew Quilt Club, loved playing cards, reading, and doing word puzzles. 

You are invited to a celebration of Stell’s life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2024, which would have been her 98th birthday, at the chapel in Brookview Healthcare Center, 1000 Northfield Drive, Chambersburg, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2011 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA. 17201.
