Stella Margaret Fox, 93, of Chambersburg and Greencastle, Franklin County, PA, formerly of Biglerville and Gettysburg, Adams County, PA, went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 2nd, 2023. Born July 28, 1930 in Fairfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Grayson and Elvra (Tressler) Fox.
She began babysitting her neighbors at the age of 14 and remained friends with some of them her entire life. A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Arendtsville, PA, she was a Sunday school teacher/superintendent, lector, usher, vacation bible school teacher/organizer, church supper/picnic organizer, communion server, Christian education director, and church council member. Stella was a local Avon representative in the Gettysburg area. She was also cafeteria manager at Knouse Foods, Peach Glen and Biglerville; TB Woods, Chambersburg, and Franklin Township Elementary School within Gettysburg School District. Stella was well known for her cooking/baking, crocheting afghans, and her gift of making people feel loved through her generosity, compassion, and kindness. She was a member of the Golden Age Club, Chambersburg Senior Center, Mall Walkers Club. Stella also served meals on wheels. She loved small animals especially Tootie her bunny who she’ll be buried with. Tootie was cremated in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Roy “June” Plank, Jr. Together, they owned and operated Planks Orchards and Apple King Express, Inc. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by an infant; three brothers, George (Jean) Fox, Edward (Maysie) Fox, and Frederick Fox; two sisters; Betty Sease (Ken) and Ruth Jean Fox; daughter- in- law, Faye Gutshall, late wife of Janice Gutshall.
Stella is survived by her five children; Johnnie Plank (Irene) of York, Ronnie Plank (Alta) of Biglerville, PA, Wanda Warrenfeltz (Barry) of Biglerville, PA, Janice “Janie” Gutshall of Chambersburg, PA, and Roy “Chip” Plank, III (Keith Dorsey and Rob Minnich) of Greencastle, PA; 12 grandchildren, Carol Smith (Terry), Melisa Smith, Beth Kuhn (Cory), Ben Plank (Misty), Jason Warrenfeltz (Valerie), Melinda Culp (Greg), Gabrielle Warrenfeltz, Jordan Bragunier (Sarah), Theo Bragunier (Nathaniel), Koby Bragunier (Zoey), Adam Bragunier, and BayLee Bragunier; 12 great grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Megan Smith, Austen Warrenfeltz (Adam), Kelby Warrenfeltz, Dylan Warrenfeltz, Clayton Kuhn, Grant Kuhn, Blain Plank, Anna Plank, Cole Plank, Remi Bragunier, Naomi Bragunier, and Nathaniel Culp; a brother, Robert “Duke” Fox (Doris) of Gettysburg, PA; a sister, Linda Mayne (Al) of Fairfield, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 9, 2023 in Trinity Lutheran Church, 38 North High Street, Arendtsville, PA 17303 with Pastor Ben Seibert officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Arendtsville, PA. Light refreshments will be served after the burial in the church social hall and all are welcome. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday, afternoon in the church.
For those planning to attend the services please wear bright colors. Stella loved springtime with all of its bright colors.
