Stephanie Gentry

May 5, 1939 — April 24, 2022

Stephanie Gayle Gentry, “Steph,” 82 of Fayetteville PA, passed away on April 24, 2022 peacefully in her home. Steph was born on May 5, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland to Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. C. Tolle. She grew up in Maryland with her sister Susan T. O’Neill. Steph married her high school sweetheart Ronald Floyd Gentry on August 26, 1961. They shared two children together a son and a daughter.

Steph was a proud graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park – “Go Terps!” class of 1961. While there she earned her Baccalaureate of Arts degree from The College of Education and made four lifelong friends. Steph was passionate about teaching, and if you had time to listen, she would share her love of being a Teacher with you! She taught English and Social Studies to students in the classroom and later she traveled to teach students all subjects in their homes who were unable to attend school.

Steph’s greatest joy in life was her family and even today she is still teaching us lessons. Steph was successful in passing her passion for teaching onto one of her nieces. Time will tell if she was able to inspire any of her granddaughters.

Steph is survived in life by Ronald F. Gentry of Fayetteville PA, son Stephen G. Gentry of Elephante Butte, NM, daughter Suzanne R. Gentry of Street, MD, niece Kelly O’Neill Cleland and Kathy O’Neill Steinheimer, and nephew Kevin O’Neill, three granddaughters, four grandnieces and four grandnephews.

Steph was preceded in death by Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. C. Tolle, Susan T. O’Neill.

A memorial tribute of Steph’s life is being planned for a later date.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Spirit Trust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice for all the support.
Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
