June 28, 1953 — December 8, 2011

Stephanie K. “Sissy” Kiel, 58, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Thursday evening, December 8, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 28, 1953 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Jack D. and Nancy Yorkavitch Pheil.

She is survived by her husband, John H. Kiel, whom she married September 23, 1993; her son, Greg L. Funk of Fayetteville; and her brother, Scott Pheil and wife Staci of Chambersburg. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Sommer Pheil Williams, Spencer Pheil, Rachel Pheil, Cori Pasinetti, Rachel Bunker, and Anna Martinez; her sisters-in-law Jaye Kiel, Jackie Bunker, and Kim Calimer; and her beloved pets, Tanner, Libby, Campy, and Pumpkin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen C. Pheil.


Sissy was a 1971 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was employed for more than thirty years at Grove Worldwide. She was a member of B.P.O. Elks # 600 and the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, both in Chambersburg. Sissy was a selfless, kind and giving person who loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed time at the lake house and boating with her husband. She had a great love for animals. A flower enthusiast, she liked growing and cutting flowers with the dahlia being her favorite. Her other hobbies included gardening, canning, and bus trips with her friends to Charlestown, WV and Hollywood Casino.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Interment will be private.
