Stephanie L. Macus, 65, of Fayetteville, PA transitioned to a new life on January 26, 2012, after a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer. She spent her final moments at home surrounded by family and friends. Born July 9, 1946 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Mary Bandick Lenart and John G. Lenart. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, John E. Lenart.
A loving and devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend, Stephanie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bob Macus; daughters Lisa (John) Beck of Laurel, MD and Jennifer (Richard) Galmeijer, of Rockville, MD; grandchildren, Audrey, Meredith and Johnny Beck and Bridget and James Galmeijer; sisters-in law Martha Burns, Patty Fox, and Carol (Russell) Strange, nine nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews.
Stephanie was a graduate of West Mifflin North High School and The Pennsylvania State University. She retired from both Carnegie Natural Gas Company and Equitable Resources, Pittsburgh. She loved being a grandmother to her five young grandchildren and enjoyed nurturing each one of them. She enjoyed retirement, reading, laughing, golfing, and having a drink with friends and family. Stephanie’s love of people and her infectious laugh made her a joy to be around.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11 AM; where Rev. Fr. James O’Brien will celebrate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 29 from 12 noon until 7:00 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, Inc., 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
