Stephen Rock

Stephen D. Rock, 74, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 2, 1949 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Edward A. Rock, Sr. and Madeline Johns Rock. Stephen was a 1967 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was employed with the former United Telephone Company as a technician for 36 years prior to his retirement. He had attended Bethel Assembly of God in Chambersburg. Stephen and his wife enjoyed hosting exchange students and camping. He loved animals and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Madeleine Desoi Rock, whom he married April 20, 2005; four daughters and seven grandchildren, Katrina Covert and husband Chet of Martinsburg, WV; Jeanette Dean, her husband Brian, and their children Corrine and Carissa of Greencastle, Michaela Lang and her children Jason and Madison of Germany, and Nicole Schaber and her children Malu, Moana, and Noah, of Germany. He is also survived by four siblings, Nancy Worthing and husband Gerald of Waterfall, Joseph Rock, Sr. and wife Mary Lou of Fayetteville, and Barbara Garland and Regis Rock and wife Carol, all of Chambersburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and his God-son, Edward Barnhart serving with the US Army in Alaska. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Rock, Jr., and two sisters, Carolyn Caldwell and Norma Gsell.

A service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held at a later date.
