Steve Pheil

Stephen C. Pheil, age 59, of Chambersburg, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in the Waynesboro Hospital, following a short illness. Born on April 6, 1952 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Jack D. and Nancy Yorkavitch Pheil.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Calimer, whom he married on January 20, 1989; three children, Dr. Sommer Pheil Williams (and husband, Robert) of Knoxville, TN, Spencer Pheil of Philadelphia, and Rachel Pheil of Naperville, IL; one sister, Stephanie “Sissy” (and husband, John) Kiel of Fayetteville; one brother, Scott (and wife, Staci) Pheil of Chambersburg; and three grandchildren, Olivia Madison Williams, Noah Lachlan Smith, and MacKenzie Belle Williams.

Steve was a 1970 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and he attended Shippensburg University. Retired since 2007, Steve was the Executive Vice President of International Sales for International Marketing Inc., where he had worked since 1977. He was also the owner and engineer of Stable Studio in Chambersburg, which he founded in 1995. Aside from his family, Steve’s true love was music. Over the years he has played in many local and regional bands, including The Sensations, Larry Davis in Kold Blood, Sandalwood, Starship, Sidestreet, Weathersfield, and most recently, his celebrated reunion with Sandalwood. Steve was a well-respected musician and he had a direct influence on many in the local music community, by whom he will be greatly missed.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3-5 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter 2325 Country Road; or to the Cumberland Valley School of Music, 1015 Philadelphia Ave., both of Chambersburg, PA 17201.
